Job summary

ASM Research, an Accenture Federal Services company, seeks a Jr. Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor SIEMs, analyze logs, and triage potential threats targeting mission‑critical systems.

You will assist in initial investigations, distinguish false positives, and escalate significant events under guidance. In this federal IT environment, you will document findings, support containment and recovery steps, tune rules and dashboards, and collaborate with IT, operations, and risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Cybersecurity or related field or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or related roles with monitoring exposure.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts and SOC roles.
• Hands-on familiarity with security tools and basic alerts/logs interpretation.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for federal information security.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to identify suspicious patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage by validating context and severity.
• Assist with incident response, gather evidence and support containment.
• Document investigations with timelines, sources and actions.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection and scanners.
• Follow SOC SOPs and playbooks; provide feedback to improve them.
• Support tuning of rules and dashboards to reduce noise and improve detection.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align monitoring with policy.
