Job summary

Universal Orlando Resort seeks an experienced engineer to redesign and develop mechanical and structural systems for theme park rides and attractions. You will improve reliability, downtime recovery and diagnostics while following ASTM and AWS/AISC standards.

The role includes managing projects from design through installation, performing engineering calculations, and coordinating with ride supervisors and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills to perform engineering calculations for design, analysis, testing and implementation.
  • Background in design of welded structures, beam elements, welded joints, structural steels.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic design and familiarity with components.
  • Knowledge of motion control, show and animation systems.
  • Experience generating component and mechanical system specifications and test procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Implements design modifications to ride and show system equipment to improve safety and reliability.
  • Manages projects from design through installation including schedules and budgets.
  • Prepares scope of work documents and Acceptance Test Procedures.
  • Interfaces with ride supervisors, managers and technicians to resolve issues.
  • Monitors vendors and reviews equipment specifications.
  • Performs engineering calculations for design, analysis, test and implementation.
  • Maintains configuration management of mechanical/structural documentation.
  • Supports safety responsibilities per UO policies.
