Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a board-certified or eligible Rheumatologist for a full-time, on-site role in Rutland, Vermont. The position supports an outpatient specialty clinic with inpatient consultation, within a broader regional network.

You will diagnose and treat complex rheumatic diseases, perform joint injections and other procedures, and collaborate closely with primary care physicians and subspecialists.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• ACGME Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology fellowship completed.
• Active, unrestricted license to practice in Vermont (or eligibility).
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology; DEA registration.
• Preferred outpatient specialty practice, musculoskeletal ultrasound, osteoporosis management, and EMR documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat complex rheumatic, autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders.
• Obtain histories, perform exams, assess disease activity and treatment response.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and bone health assessments to guide decisions.
• Develop patient-centered treatment plans with pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic strategies.
• Prescribe and monitor DMARDs, biologics, corticosteroids, and immunomodulators.
• Perform joint injections, aspirations, and other rheumatology procedures.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, options, and risks/benefits.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation in compliance with guidelines.
• Collaborate with PCPs, specialists, nursing, and rehab for coordinated care.
• Participate in protocol development, provider meetings, utilization management, and call coverage.
