Job description

Our client is a leading provider of commercial building products and installation services, serving commercial, institutional, and multifamily construction markets across North America. Backed by a Fortune 50 company, the organization benefits from significant financial resources, national scale, and continued investment in operational excellence and growth.

The company is undergoing a significant transformation, including investments in its finance and accounting infrastructure, technology, and business processes. This creates an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to help build and strengthen a critical function within a growing, multi-entity organization.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager to build, lead, and enhance its revenue accounting function. This highly visible position will take ownership of revenue recognition under ASC 606, including percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, contract analysis, and financial reporting across a complex, multi-entity business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing scalable accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, improving reporting accuracy, and supporting an upcoming SAP migration. This opportunity is well suited for a hands-on accounting leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to develop processes, automate workflows, and partner across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue Recognition & Technical Accounting: Own revenue accounting under ASC 606, including contract reviews, performance obligations, POC revenue recognition, and contract asset/liability analysis.
  • Process Development & Internal Controls: Design and implement standardized revenue accounting policies, reconciliations, close procedures, and internal controls aligned with corporate reporting and SOX requirements.
  • Systems Integration & Automation: Improve revenue reporting across multiple legacy ERP and branch-level systems, streamline reconciliations, and support the transition to SAP.
  • Financial Close & Reporting: Oversee revenue-related month-end and quarter-end close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and project-to-general-ledger reconciliations.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Manage and mentor accounting professionals while establishing accountability, improving workflows, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Project Accounting, FP&A, Operations, and divisional leadership to improve revenue accuracy, financial visibility, and forecasting.
  • Audit & Compliance: Support external audits, prepare technical accounting documentation, and ensure compliance with GAAP and parent company accounting policies.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and industry experience, with demonstrated people management responsibilities.
  • Strong, hands-on ASC 606 expertise, including percentage-of-completion accounting and complex contract revenue recognition.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-branch, or parent/subsidiary reporting environment.
  • Demonstrated success developing accounting processes, strengthening controls, and improving close efficiency.
  • Experience working with multiple ERP systems and automating manual accounting processes.
  • Background in building materials, industrial distribution, construction, or project-based accounting strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with SAP, NAV, Power Query, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with finance and operational leadership.
  • Annual Bonus: 15% target
  • Target Total Cash Compensation: Approximately $155,000–$173,000
  • Competitive benefits package
