Well-known, established consulting firm (Boston) looking to hire an Accounting Manager with strong Revenue Recognition (ASC 606) experience. This person will manage a team of 4 and oversee revenue operations.
Comp for this role will be around $140-160K + 15% bonus (Depending on experience).
About the role:
Our client seeks a Revenue Manager to join our dedicated, passionate team of professionals. This role will report to the Corporate Controller and will lead the day-to-day operations of our revenue accounting function. This role will leverage technical expertise with US GAAP, and specifically ASC 606, to identify accounting implications and impacts to customers. This person will also partner closely with Sales, Sales Operations, IT, FP&A, Legal and other teams across the company, to influence and drive results for a wide array of business initiatives. The Manager will play a key leadership role in the Finance organization around process improvement, system implementations and optimizations, standardizing processes and mentoring the team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead/support the revenue accounting close and reporting process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, internal controls and company policy and procedures.
- Assist corporate accounting team with developing financial statement disclosures related to revenue recognition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to identify continuous improvement opportunities and/or optimize revenue accounting operations.
- Design, document, implement and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures and controls over revenue accounting cycle, including accounting for non-standard transactions, while ensuring internal controls are designed and operating effectively.
- Develop a culture of mentorship, continuous improvement, training, and success in the revenue organization.
- Support external audit requirements and liaise with external auditors to address technical accounting and audit risk areas related to revenue.
- Assist FP&A with creating and delivering revenue metrics and reporting.
- Assist in preparing financial analyses and schedules necessary for audit, and coordinate audit requests with team members.
- Support various special projects and ad hoc tasks as necessary.
- Assist in developing operational procedures and documentation of data flow.
What We Seek:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of professional accounting experience
- Revenue recognition (ASC 606) experience is required.
- Public company experience preferred
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent planning, analytical and execution skills
- Experience using Workday (or similar) accounting software
- Bonus: experience working in the clean technology industry
