Job summary

Meijer in Michigan is seeking a dedicated store leader to plan, direct, and supervise daily operations across departments, mentoring team members and delivering consistent, high‑quality customer service.

You will manage staffing and hiring to meet needs, support promotion decisions, and ensure performance through coaching, training, and clear communication.

This role supports store goals on P&L, inventory and appearance while upholding company standards and a safe, friendly shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members to deliver excellent customer service and meet sales goals.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Support career path development and promotion decisions.
• Handle disciplinary actions and potential discharge recommendations.
• Oversee P&L, sales targets and shrink control.
• Maintain store appearance and product presentation to Meijer standards.
• Ensure a safe and friendly shopping environment.
• Provide training and onboarding for new team members.
• Communicate Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and conversations.
