Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Michigan is seeking a dedicated retail leader to plan, direct, and supervise store teams across daily operations. You will mentor staff, optimize staffing and training, and ensure fast, friendly customer service while maintaining store standards and appearance.

You will oversee staffing, selection and promotions, manage P&L, monitor shrink, and drive sales during peak hours, with a focus on safety and compliance and opportunities for advancement within the Meijer family.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience helpful.
• Clear and precise direction to team members.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decisions.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Lead a team while practicing safe operations.
• Mentor team members across roles including hourly staff.
• Completion of required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members for growth and performance.
• Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and standards.
• Ensure positive company image through courteous, efficient service.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote career paths and development; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document disciplinary actions and advise on discharge.
• Be responsible for P&L, sales goals, and controlling shrink.
• Model fast, friendly customer service and Meijer initiatives.
• Ensure team training and adherence to required trainings.
• Communicate Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and conversations.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain attendance.
