Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an experienced Store Leader to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day operations across departments. You will mentor staff, drive sales, and uphold company standards to deliver exceptional customer service.

The role emphasizes staffing, coaching, and operational excellence, with rotations across departments to strengthen team capabilities and ensure a positive shopping experience for customers in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store are helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clear directions to team.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Ability to mentor team members including hourly staff.
• Successful completion of required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Serve as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours and product presentation.
• Ensure staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and provide career development opportunities.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and discharge decisions.
• Ensure P&L oversight, sales goals, and shrink control.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and uphold Meijer standards.
• Ensure thorough training and continued development of all staff.
• Spend majority of time in-store engaging with customers and teammates.
• Maintain a safe work environment and reliable attendance.
