Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience.
• Ability to communicate clear directions to team members.
• Ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions and teach suggestive selling.
• Ability to lead an organization that emphasizes safe working practices and mentoring across roles.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members; drive customer service and store sales.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote career paths and development for team members; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and recommend discharge when needed.
• Manage P&L, achieve sales goals and maintain shrink.
• Model fast, friendly customer service and uphold Meijer standards.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Ensure thorough training of team members across roles and responsibilities.
• Maintain constant store communication with customers and team members to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote a safe work environment and ensure reliable attendance.
