Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a team member who will lead daily operations, guide staff, and ensure top customer service across the department. You will coach peers, help schedule shifts, and maintain store standards to deliver a great shopping experience in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role involves mentoring teammates, assisting with training, and maintaining policies for product freshness and safety while supporting store profitability and Meijer culture.

Qualifications

• Passion for customer service and engagement with customers and teammates.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to influence others and build rapport with customers.

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping experience, including an exceptional checkout process.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily tasks.
• Mentor and coach teammates to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Support training of new team members and cross-training of high-potential talent.
• Assist leadership with department scheduling to boost engagement, service, sales and profitability.
• Monitor product rotation and dating policies to ensure freshness.
• Guide the team in food safety standards and safe operation practices.
• Lead ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing and product display as applicable.
• Foster Meijer culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.
• Operate registers and handle cash when needed and use powered equipment as required.
• Participate in period end inventories to help achieve goals.
• May act in Lead capacity in other departments as needed.
• This profile includes other duties as assigned.
