Job summary

Meijer in Ohio is seeking a customer-focused team member to support daily operations, guide the department, and model exceptional customer experience.

You will engage peers, assign daily tasks, mentor teammates, support training, help schedule writing, and work with leadership to improve service, sales and profitability.

You’ll ensure product freshness, follow food safety standards, operate the register when needed, and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive store culture.

Qualifications

• Passion for customer service with full engagement and approachability
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to influence and mentor others
• Experience in retail or customer service preferred
• Ability to lift and handle products and operate basic equipment
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for teammates and vendors

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping experience for customers
• Communicate with team members and assign daily tasks
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals
• Support training and cross-training of new team members
• Assist with department scheduling to boost engagement and store performance
• Ensure product freshness by monitoring rotation and dating policies
• Maintain food safety standards and safe working practices
• Lead on ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing and product displays where applicable
• Contribute to a welcoming Meijer culture that values diversity, equity and inclusion
• Operate a register and handle cash when needed
• Participate in period end inventories to help achieve goals
• May act in Lead capacity in other departments as required
