Job summary

Meijer in Michigan is seeking a store leadership professional to plan, direct and supervise team members across departments, mentor staff, and drive customer service and sales while upholding Meijer standards.

You will ensure staffing, training, and performance management, promote a safe work environment, and lead with the Meijer Friendly Initiative to create a positive shopping experience for our communities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions. Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations across departments.
• Serve as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Ensure staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and development paths; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Hold P&L responsibility, achieve sales, and maintain shrink targets.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to exceed customer service and sales goals; ensure area meets Meijer standards.
• Ensure thorough training across all roles and required certifications are completed.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
