Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking a store associate to support daily store functions, assist customers, and manage merchandise transfers from truck to floor. The role involves opening/closing duties, following corporate directives, maintaining displays, and protecting store assets.

You will help supervise junior staff and ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming store atmosphere for shoppers. Qualifications include a high school diploma (or equivalent), strong communication skills, ability to lift up to 55

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Assist Store Manager with supervising, training, and development of Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
