Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with day-to-day activities, merchandise flow, and adherence to corporate directives in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires strong communication, customer service skills, and the ability to lead and train store associates. You will work to maintain a clean, well-organized store and ensure policy compliance and asset protection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Move merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor, maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and store communications
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll/scheduling, and cash handling
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized
• Protect store assets including cash and inventory
• Enforce safety policies and train/store staff
• Support Store Manager in supervising and developing associates
• Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable store environment
• Other duties as assigned
