Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation and selling. You will recruit, train and evaluate staff, ensure compliance with labor laws, and maintain a safe, well-organized store environment.

Responsibilities include staffing, opening/closing, managing performance, and maximizing profitability while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining financial integrity.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting documents, safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations (percentages, totals).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written).
• Interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and termination practices and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees and staff the store.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations, and counsel or terminate when needed.
• Make pay-rate and advancement recommendations.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; conduct meetings.
• Open and close the store as required.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends and profitability.
• Review ordering plans and inventory management weekly.
• Ensure merchandise is presented per standards and pricing is correct.
• Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages and shrink.
• Ensure cashier accountability and store security practices.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and a safe store environment.
• Ensure paperwork and documentation are completed on time.
