Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and completing paperwork. This role serves as a development path toward a Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, and daily store operations, while ensuring policy adherence and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, store keys, SAFE and STARS programs).

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging of merchandise per manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds and maintain cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, expense control opportunities, and shrinkage.
