Job summary

The Store Manager Candidate at Dollar General supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervision, staffing, inventory, and daily operations. This role is designed to foster development for an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Key duties include recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, cashier accountability, and promoting a safe, well-stocked store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred in some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and inventory tasks.
• Manage inventory, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Maintain in-stock targets through correct ordering.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Follow store procedures and open/close duties.
• Ensure secure cash handling and bank deposits.
• Maintain clean, safe store environment.
• Review operating statements for trends.
• Complete paperwork according to deadlines.
