Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily store operations, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager track while covering responsibilities during a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandise presentation, inventory controls, cash handling, and store safety, working to maintain in-stock targets and operational excellence across the store.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, store keys, SAFE and STARS programs, etc.).
• Experience recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination procedures, including legal compliance.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
• Preference may be given to bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Support merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Help manage inventory, complete inventories and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close the store when required.
• Ensure cash controls and security procedures are followed.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked, safe store environment.
• Assist in operating the store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and costs.
• Complete paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
