Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in all store processes, including supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving. This role supports external candidate development for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will help in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, and cashier accountability, while upholding company policies and ensuring a safe, well-stocked store environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentage calculations for reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling, cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Awareness of cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking to meet standards.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns and scans.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Model company policies and procedures per handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash control.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environments.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on deadlines.
