Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervise staff, manage inventory, and ensure merchandising standards. The role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Responsibilities include coordinating recruiting, inventory control, cash handling, and customer service leadership while maintaining compliance with policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting documents such as diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and programs (deposits, keys, SAFE and STARS).

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to established practices and store manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls; prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in the bank.
• Assist in cashier accountability and cash-control practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
