Job summary

Goodwill is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a retail store and donation center. You will assist the Store Manager to foster a positive, productive environment for customers and staff, lead sales-driven operations, and ensure smooth daily activities.

This role includes responsibilities from recruitment and staff development to financial procedures and safety. A strong leader with retail operations experience is preferred; local travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of retail management experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally with frequent movement.

Responsibilities

• Lead store activities to ensure strong sales and production performance.
• Support recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
• Train and develop staff in alignment with company standards.
• Review and verify daily sales reports, deposits, and financial procedures.
• Coordinate product flow and shipments to meet sales goals.
• Open and close the store, manage deposits, and secure the building.
• Provide excellent customer and donor service, including resolving complaints.
• Supervise processing of donated goods to ensure quality and sales readiness.
• Organize and rotate merchandise by category and color.
• Encourage team motivation through communication and performance feedback.
• Report maintenance needs and safety concerns to store leadership.
• Act as Store Manager in their absence.
