Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations in a customer-first environment. Reporting to the Store Manager, you will supervise staff, oversee merchandise presentation, and handle deposits and cash controls while ensuring profitability and asset protection.

The role includes supervising employees, training, safety meetings, and daily tasks such as stocking, cashiering, and executing planograms to maintain high standards of service and store appearance.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers and operate cash register to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training and safety meetings for staff.
• Stock, receive, unpack, restock and rotate merchandise; build displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory and control damages and markdowns.
• Support planogram implementation and merchandise presentation.
• Ensure cash controls, deposits and refunds are handled properly; assist in store management in absence of the Store Manager.
