Job summary

Dollar General Assistant Store Manager role focuses on customer-first store leadership, cash handling, and efficient operation of daily store tasks. The incumbent will assist with scheduling, training, and safety compliance, while ensuring accurate inventory and secure cash procedures.

Responsibilities include opening/closing the store several days weekly, maintaining merchandising standards, and supporting the Store Manager to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to operate cash register and scanner and manage deposits.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling and training of employees; conduct safety meetings.
• Manage merchandise through receiving, stocking, display, and planograms and rotate stock.
• Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy and deposits; monitor cash controls and refunds.
• Support store leadership in the absence of the Store Manager.
