Job summary

Hudson by Avolta is seeking a Retail Shift Manager for the Port Authority Bus Terminal location. You will support location management in executing retail operations, ensure operational readiness, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and staffing across shifts.

The role requires 2+ years in retail or customer service and at least 6 months in a supervisory position, with strong math, cash handling, and POS experience. You will coach staff and uphold brand and merchandising standards daily.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail and/or customer service experience.
• Minimum 6 months of supervisory or lead experience in retail, specialty retail, or customer service.
• Book retail experience or active reading interest preferred.
• Basic math skills and cash handling experience.
• Knowledge of POS systems and retail management software.
• Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills.
• Understanding of visual merchandising principles, planogram execution, and book retail displays.

Responsibilities

• Executes SOPs during shifts, coaching staff to maintain standards.
• Ensures displays remain clean, stocked, and visually appealing; monitors equipment and reports maintenance needs.
• Reviews timekeeping punches and monitors overtime to ensure compliance with labor laws and budget objectives.
• Assigns tasks and ensures mandated rest breaks and meals per labor regulations.
• Escalates performance concerns and provides coaching to improve performance.
• Operates POS systems and processes transaction voids per cash handling policies.
• Monitors inventory, assists with receiving, and reports discrepancies to management.
• Trains staff on brand standards and visual merchandising; oversees planogram changes.
