Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Service Manager to keep the store running smoothly by supervising employees across departments and delivering prompt, friendly service to customers.

You will lead by example, manage schedules, handle customer issues, oversee merchandising and safety, develop people to achieve results in a fast-paced retail environment, and train staff while reporting to store leadership to ensure policy compliance and a positive team culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of related retail supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage schedules and lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Lead by example and maintain positive employee relations, creating a culture of friendliness, teamwork, and accountability.
• Plan, prepare, and adjust work schedules; assign employees to duties and follow up to ensure tasks are completed on time.
• Supervise store activities across departments in the Department Manager's absence or perform the work at all job levels.
• Address customer issues promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
• Train workers on store policies and procedures and provide ongoing education on updated policies.
• Evaluate employee performance and recommend promotions, transfers, or dismissals.
• Enforce safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment and document incidents as needed.
• Order merchandise, verify deliveries, and report discrepancies between orders and received products.
• Determine ad and promotional displays locations and ensure product quality and quantities meet demand.
• Maintain managerial data including sales, inventory reports, and display projections.
