Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a sales team member to be the face of our store, delivering friendly service, helping customers, and keeping merchandise organized. This role offers daily interaction with customers in a collaborative retail environment.

You will handle cash, process transactions, and maintain a neat sales floor while adhering to security procedures and store policies. Previous retail experience and a can-do attitude are preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand for up to 7 hours per shift.
• Ability to bend and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Basic computer and internet skills.
• Multilingual with fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register.
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator.
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly.
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance.
• Maintain an orderly and clean register area.
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary.
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms).
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
