Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a retail associate to welcome customers, assist with purchases, and maintain a clean, organized sales floor. You will handle the register, apply basic math, and answer questions about merchandise while delivering friendly service in a fast-paced environment.

This role emphasizes accuracy in ringing up sales, professional appearance, and teamwork to support store operations and customer satisfaction within the Clinton, MD community.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and GGW associates.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all customers.
• Ability to settle customer complaints.
• Basic math skills.
• Able to stand for up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift.
• Able to bend and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance
• Maintain an orderly and clean register area
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include: store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms)
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
