Job summary

Lakeshore Learning Materials seeks a Director of Retail Sales to own revenue for Lakeshore's retail channel. You will partner with the VP of Stores to set sales strategy, drive programs and selling behaviors, and boost conversion, basket growth, and customer engagement across locations.

You will lead with data-driven plans, recoveries for underperforming stores, and cross-functional collaboration with field teams to ensure alignment and execution.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive retail sales leadership, including chain-wide or multi-region sales strategy ownership.
• 3+ years carrying a revenue number or P&L line with demonstrated delivery against it.
• Proven record designing sales programs and scaling them across a multi-unit fleet with measurable revenue results.
• Strong financial fluency, including budgeting, forecasting, opportunity sizing and margin impact.
• Candidates should ideally reside in the Mid-West area; role requires overnight stays 3x per week, with 75% travel.

Responsibilities

• Drive total retail revenue with the VP of Stores, including annual sales plan, rolling forecast and executive updates with clear recommendations.
• Lead chain-wide selling programs: customer outreach, educator partnerships, community events, loyalty and four-wall conversion.
• Define recovery plans for at-risk stores with executives and Territory Managers; track results against KPIs.
• Lead the retail B2B and outreach strategy across educator, school, childcare and community segments; connect stores with Inside and Institutional Sales.
• Evolve Lakeshore selling model, playbooks and training for store leaders to deliver impact.
• Set priorities each period and optimize performance through data with the VP of Stores.
• Provide one of the retail channel voices with Marketing on promotions, pricing tests and launches; measure lift.
