Job summary

Inova Health is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 2 to join our team at the Chantilly location. This full-time role operates Monday–Friday with days/evenings rotating shifts and occasional weekend coverage.

The position supports pharmacists with dispensing and inventory tasks, with a focus on accuracy and patient safety. Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or GED, Virginia Pharmacy Technician Certification or Pharmacy intern license, and BLS within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Virginia Pharmacy Technician Certification or Pharmacy Intern License required.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains temperature logs per policy.
• Checks inventory and records out-of-date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information (patient/prescriber search, drug selection, Rx interpretation/entry, insurance billing, basic problem resolution).
• Prepares medications for clients by mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

Education

Retail Pharmacy Technician 2 J Ob Responsibilities

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.


• Cleans equipment and maintains all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.


• Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, removes products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out of date products in the Expiring Medication log book.


• Performs computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to, patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.


• Prepares medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

Minimum Requirements

• Work schedule: 8-hour shift (days/evenings rotating shift. Every other weekend.)


• Education: High School or GED.


• Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience: Two (2) years of Retail Pharmacy Technician experience .
