Job summary

Inova Health in Chantilly, VA is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 2 for a full-time role, Monday–Friday with days/evenings rotating shifts and weekends as needed. Join Inova Compounding Pharmacy to support pharmacists in preparing compounded medications and dispensing duties.

The position requires VA technician licensure or pharmacy intern status, and BLS within 3 months. Prior compounding experience is preferred; Inova offers comprehensive benefits and career growth.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED.
• Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in Virginia or Pharmacy intern license.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Two years of Compounding Pharmacy Technician experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare customized medications by measuring, mixing, and packaging per prescriptions and formulas.
• Operate compounding equipment such as ointment mills, capsule machines, and mixers with proper calibration.
• Follow aseptic techniques and USP guidelines in sterile and non-sterile environments.
• Maintain inventory and ensure proper storage, timely ordering of supplies.
• Assist the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications.
• Enter prescription information into computer systems, including drug selection and insurance billing.

Compounding Pharmacy Technician 2 J Ob Responsibilities

• Prepare customized medications by accurately measuring, mixing, and packaging ingredients according to prescription orders and established formulas.
• Operate and maintain compoundingequipment such as ointment mills, capsule machines, and mixers, ensuring proper calibration and cleanliness.
• Follow strict aseptic techniques and USP and guidelines to maintain safety and compliance in both sterile and non-sterile environments.
• Maintain inventory of raw materials, ensuring proper storage conditions and timely ordering of supplies.
• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
• Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, removes products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out-of-date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to, patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Prepares medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

Minimum Requirements

• Work schedule: 8-hour shift (days/evenings rotating shift. Weekend as needed).
• Education: High School or GED.
• Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience: Two (2) years of Compounding Pharmacy Technician experience.
