Job summary

Inova Loudoun Hospital Retail Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 1 to join the team. This part-time role is Monday‑Friday with rotating days/evenings and potential weekends, totaling 20 hours per week.

Flexible hours and weekend coverage improve team scheduling in Leesburg, VA. Minimum requirements include High School or GED, Virginia-registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy intern license, and BLS within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Virginia-registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy intern license; Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred: 1 year Retail Pharmacy Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Clean equipment and maintain all required temperature logs per system policies.
• Check medication and supply inventory for out-of-date products and record expiring meds.
• Enter prescription information into computer systems (patient/prescriber search, drug selection, insurance billing).
• Prepare medications for clients by counting pills, mixing medications and labeling bottles.

Education

Retail Pharmacy Technician Job Responsibilities

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
• Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, removes products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out of date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to, patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Prepares medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School or GED.
• Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience: One (1) year Retail Pharmacy Technician experience.
