Job summary

Inova Schar Cancer Center Retail Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 1 to join the team as a PRN role, Monday–Friday and weekends. Must be flexible.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: One year Retail Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Certification: VA Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy intern license; BLS within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pharmacist with reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Clean equipment and maintain temperature logs per policy.
• Check inventory for out-of-date products and update Expiring Medication log.
• Enter prescription information into computer systems, including patient data, drug selection and insurance.
• Prepare medications by mixing, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
• Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, removes products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out of date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to, patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Prepares medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School or GED.

Experience: One (1) year Retail Pharmacy Technician experience.

Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
