Job summary

Inova Health System's Schar Cancer Center Retail Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 1 to join the team. This PRN role offers Monday–Friday coverage with weekend flexibility.

As part of a top regional health system, you’ll assist the Pharmacist with dispensing medications, maintain inventory, and ensure accurate data entry and label accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma and at least 1 year of retail pharmacy experience,

Qualifications

• Education requirement: High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year retail pharmacy technician experience.
• Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in Virginia or Pharmacy intern license; BLS within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains temperature logs per policy.
• Checks inventory for out-of-date products and records in Expiring Medication log.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information including patient/prescriber search, drug selection, interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Prepares medications for clients by mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
• Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, removes products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out of date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to, patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Prepares medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School or GED.

Experience: One (1) year Retail Pharmacy Technician experience.

Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
