Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. in Waterloo, IA is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead staff, oversee donated goods flow from collection to sale, and ensure efficient store/warehouse operations.

You will supervise Sales Associates, Utility Workers, Team Leads, ADC Attendants, and Production Workers while partnering with the Store/Operations Manager on goals and standards. The role emphasizes training, policy enforcement, customer service excellence, safety, and inventory control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent; supervisory experience preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer proficiency.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of Sales Associates, Utility Workers, Team Leads, ADC Attendants, and Production Workers.
• Delegate assignments and coach staff to achieve store goals.
• Ensure adherence to policies and standard operating procedures.
• Provide training on duties, policies, ethical codes, and compliance.
• Evaluate performance and take corrective action when necessary.
• Oversee merchandising, inventory, and customer service standards.
• Handle cash register processes, money handling, and deposits.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety.
• Support the Store/Operations Manager’s vision for execution of merchandising and service.
• Complete daily/weekly sales and staff documentation accurately.
• Assist in interviewing and hiring decisions.
• Represent store/operations positively to internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate to maximize service opportunities and continuous improvement.
• Analyze sales and trends to determine action plans.
• Promote revenue growth through strategic store/operations activities.
• Available during nontraditional hours including some weekends/evenings.
• Serve as emergency contact for locations outside regular hours.
• Ensure a donating/shopping experience aligned with agency expectations.
