Job summary

PetSmart is seeking a Retail Operations Lead to drive operational excellence in our stores, overseeing merchandising, inventory, pet-care operations, and opening/closing procedures while leading and supporting associates.

The role emphasizes ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming store environment, with a focus on customer satisfaction and adherence to company policies. Full-time availability is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Full-time availability required, flexibility in schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining a visually appealing store layout.

Responsibilities

• Guide sales associates in merchandise handling and product knowledge training.
• Support associate development, onboarding, mentoring, and performance feedback.
• Delegate and validate completion of daily tasks.
• Lead as Leader on Duty and supervise when needed.
• Address and resolve associate complaints and grievances.
• Celebrate associates driving engagement.
• Execute merchandising strategies, product placement, displays, and promotions.
• Manage inventory, audits, and recommend stock replenishment and markdowns.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and address discrepancies.
• Operate POS systems and handle cash per policy.
• Maintain store standards and uphold Policies, Procedures and Code of Ethics.
• Share responsibility for opening/closing procedures.
• Complete monthly cycle counts and resolve discrepancies.
• Care for pets and ensure their welfare in store.
• Ensure online order pickup and ship-from-store accuracy.
• Support associate and pet parent experience; safe care for pets.
• Take immediate action if a sick/injured pet identified; transport to the vet.
• Prepare for new store arrivals; quarantine as needed.
