Job summary

Meijer is seeking a department leader to oversee operations, guide daily activities, and empower team members in providing exceptional customer experiences. You will model Meijer standards, coach staff, and drive department success through effective scheduling, training, and collaboration.

You will ensure product freshness, maintain safety standards, and lead initiatives to improve sales and service while fostering an inclusive environment for all teammates and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best shopping experience, including checkout.
• Communicate with team and assign daily tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
• Assist in training new team members and cross-training talent.
• Help schedule writing to improve engagement, service, and profitability.
• Ensure freshness through proper rotation and dating policies.
• Guide food safety compliance and safe work practices.
• Lead ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing and product displays where applicable.
• Foster Meijer culture and DEI values within the team.
• Operate registers and handle cash when needed; use powered equipment when applicable.
• Participate in inventories to support goals; may act as Lead in other departments.
