Job summary

Rural King is hiring an Assistant Store Manager Trainee in Illinois. You will work closely with the Store Manager to support daily operations, sales, inventory, merchandising, and associate development, with the goal of advancing to an Assistant Store Manager role.

This position requires relocation or commuting to one of three area stores upon promotion. The role involves leading by example, coaching teams, and ensuring excellent customer service while managing store performance and safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years retail leadership or supervisory experience.
• Ability to lead and develop associates.
• Experience with retail operations, sales, merchandising, inventory, and customer service.
• Proficiency with computers and retail technology.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and up to a 50-hour week.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Store Manager to support daily operations, sales, inventory, merchandising, pricing, scheduling, and store performance.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and appealing store environment, including merchandise displays, building, grounds, and equipment.
• Support inventory accuracy, cash handling, shrink reduction, loss prevention, and company initiatives.
• Follow company policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of associates.
• Provide direction, feedback, motivation, and recognition while holding associates accountable to expectations.
• Lead by example and promote a positive, professional, team-focused work environment.
• Build leadership and business skills to transition into an Assistant Store Manager role.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve customer questions or concerns.
• Support customer engagement, promotions, loyalty programs, and community activities.
• Operate computers and retail equipment and participate in cross-training.
