Store - DET-ORION TOWNSHIP, MI

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by assisting customers and ensuring a smooth checkout process. Complete operational tasks such as truck unload, merchandise duties, and store recovery to meet Brand Promises.

Event Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
  • Create a fun and creative environment for clients of all ages.
  • Demonstrate craft projects, perform face painting, and facilitate activities.
  • Manage event add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members about events.
  • Handle administrative duties such as emails, calls, and paperwork.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and create backup or emergency plans.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and uphold safety and cleanliness standards before and after events.
Customer Experience
  • Assist customers with shopping, locating products, and providing solutions.
  • Ensure quick, friendly checkout experiences.
  • Promote and enroll customers in Rewards and Credit Card programs.
  • Educate customers about Voice of Customer surveys.
  • Support Omni channel processes like BOPIS and SFS.
  • Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram setup.
  • Maintain merchandise recovery and store cleanliness.
  • Support store safety, shrink reduction, and compliance with SOPs.
  • Interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members.
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
  • Participate in store cleanliness activities, including sweeping and restroom maintenance.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Energetic, enthusiastic personality.
  • Ability to handle stress and interact effectively with guests and staff.
  • Excellent people skills and experience with children’s events.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Stand for long periods, move throughout the store, and perform physical tasks like lifting and reaching.
  • Work includes nights, weekends, and early mornings, with some outdoor and non-climate-controlled work areas.
