Job summary

Big Lots is seeking a motivated Customer Service Associate to greet customers, assist in merchandise selection, and process transactions at the register. You will help stock shelves, unload trucks, and maintain a clean, organized store environment to ensure a positive shopping experience.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, retail experience preferred, and can lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Education: Prefer completion of high school or equivalent.
• Experience: Prefer experience working in retail, hotel, restaurant, grocery or drug store environments.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs from floor level to above shoulder height; frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, and lifting.
• Availability: Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer engagement in positive and approachable manner.
• Assists in maintaining a clean, well-stocked store for customers during their shopping experience.
• Helps in unloading merchandise from delivery trucks, organizes merchandise, and transports merchandise from stockroom to sales floor.
• Independently stocks shelves and recovers merchandise in the store.
• Accurately handles customer funds and processes transactions using the POS system.
• Remains constantly aware of customer activity to ensure a safe and secure shopping environment.
• Performs all other duties as assigned in order to maintain an effective and profitable store operation.
