Job summary

Applegreen is seeking a Category Manager to develop and execute category strategies across our U.S. retail portfolio. You will oversee assortment, pricing, promotions, and vendor partnerships to grow sales and profitability while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Collaborating with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and suppliers, you will build annual plans, run category reviews, and manage forecasts. This is a hybrid role based in Glen Rock, NJ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in retail buying, category management, merchandising, or procurement.
• Strong supplier negotiations and vendor management experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Office Suite skills.
• Experience with PDI and retail reporting platforms preferred.
• Strong analytical, financial, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent planning, organization, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies to drive sales and profitability.
• Manage product assortment, pricing, promotions, and merchandising plans.
• Analyze sales, margin, market, and customer data to identify opportunities.
• Conduct category reviews and develop action plans.
• Deliver category forecasts, budgets, and performance reporting.
• Lead vendor negotiations and manage supplier relationships.
• Develop joint business plans with key suppliers.
• Monitor vendor performance and ensure contract compliance.
• Maximize rebate opportunities and achieve targets.
• Create effective planograms and promotional calendars.
• Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance.
• Support new product launches and category resets.
