Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in New Haven, IN is seeking a friendly Retail Associate to join our opening team. You will greet customers, process sales at the register, assist donors, and help create a welcoming shopping experience while supporting daily store goals.

We offer paid training, ongoing coaching, and a team-oriented environment with opportunities to develop retail and customer service skills in a mission-driven setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or ongoing pursuit required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Operate the register and process sales transactions accurately.
• Assist donors with donations according to center policy.
• Sort, process, hang, tag, price, and prepare donated merchandise.
• Move priced merchandise to the sales floor, display areas, or other designated locations.

Retail Associate

Pay: $13.50 per hour Job Type: Part-time, Regular Schedule: 18 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

What You’ll Do

• Greet customers & donors and provide friendly, helpful service

What You Need

Required

• Ability to provide friendly customer service
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Basic communication and teamwork skills
• Basic math and computer skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift
• Ability to bend, reach, and lift or move merchandise throughout the day
• High school diploma or currently pursuing

Preferred

• Previous retail, cashier, customer service, or thrift store experience
• Experience using a point of sale system
