Job summary

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is seeking friendly, customer-service oriented individuals to join our gift shop team. Work in a one-of-a-kind environment, greet visitors, and help them find products of interest.

You will process payments with the POS system, restock displays, and support a positive team atmosphere in a fast-paced setting. Previous retail experience and a high school diploma are preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year retail sales experience preferred; POS experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

We're looking for customer service oriented, friendly faces to work in our gift shop!

Responsibilities

• Greet customers entering the store & provide friendly customer service
• Guide and direct customers to appropriate products of interest and answer related inquiries
• Assist customers with all museum related inquiries
• Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards and making change
• Restock and maintain displays (labeling correctly as needed) per Company standards
• Participate in closing, opening procedures
• Contribute to a positive environment where all employees trust and respect each other

Position Requirements

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills to interact positively with others
• Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure
• Dependable to always be on time and on schedule
• Able to lift frequently up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Position also involves frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting and up to 8 hours per day on feet in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to handle general math
• Minimum 1 year retail sales experience preferred
• Minimum 1 year experience with POS systems preferred
