Job summary

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL is seeking a Café Supervisor to lead and support our café team while delivering outstanding guest service. You will mentor staff, ensure quality food and beverage service, manage POS transactions, and uphold the highest standards of hospitality and integrity in a fast-paced museum environment.

This role requires strong leadership, reliability, and a commitment to teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a café environment or hospitality setting.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory role.
• Food Manager Safety certification

We're looking for the right person to supervise and work alongside our Café staff in preparing and providing great food and beverages while delivering outstanding guest service.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the menu and guest service expectations are being met or exceeded
• Responsible for direct coaching and mentoring of Café staff
• Ensure that staff is trained in proper techniques related to food preparation, quality service, cleanliness, and orderly processes
• Be a strong contributor to a teamwork environment and consistently adhere to scheduled work shifts
• Represent the company in a professional manner according to company policy
• Follow all company procedures with no deviation
• Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards and making change
• Greet all guests with a smile and maintain a positive attitude at all times
• Uphold the highest values of honesty and integrity

Position Requirements:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment involving frequent squatting, bending, twisting and lifting up to 40 lbs. and spending up to 8 hours per day standing
• Strong leadership skills that include the ability to coach, develop, and clearly communicate expectations
• Analytical and problem resolution skills with the ability to proactively recommend solutions
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work a variety of day, night, weekend and holiday shifts up to 40 hours per week
• Food Manager Safety certification

Knowledge and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 3 years' experience with POS systems and café environment
• Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory role
