Retail Assistant Store Manager

$13.00 to $19.00 per hour

We offer an easily achievable commission structure that pays you for every transaction you process. Retail sales associates can earn up to 8% on transactions, potentially adding an average of $6.85 per hour on top of the hourly rate.

Position Summary

We seek an Assistant Store Manager with at least six months of management or third‑key experience. The Assistant Store Manager is accountable for day‑to‑day store operations and for fostering a positive, productive environment. Partnering with the Store Manager, the role includes leading and developing store employees, recruiting and retaining top talent, meeting financial goals, and managing customer relations and satisfaction.

This position supports the Store Manager in analyzing store financial statements and ensuring financial goals are met. The role also requires commitment to the company's asset protection program, entrepreneurship of the business, and acquisition of new customers. Employees work across jewelry, general merchandise, tools, electronics, firearms (in FFL locations), and more.

Compensation includes hourly wage plus commission based on productivity and a bonus tied to store performance.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate a customer‑centric environment by engaging customers professionally and resolving issues swiftly.
• Monitor and assist in the training of pawnbrokers to meet FirstCash standards.
• Recruit top talent through company‑prescribed channels.
• Open and close the store, count cash drawers and merchandise, and ensure all procedures protect assets.
• Ensure asset protection through inventory control, property safety, documentation, and securing customer loans.
• Administer processes and procedures within the store, including inventory, loan management, merchandising, store presentation, store systems, and enterprise‑level reporting.
• Evaluate the store’s financial statements and drive profitability through communication and goal setting.
• Ensure operating standards meet or exceed FirstCash standards.
• Monitor loan qualification and buying processes to preserve value and integrity of all loans issued.
• Complete assigned tasks and training for self‑development as requested.
• Communicate clearly with employees to ensure understanding of the store’s mission and profit objectives.
• Keep current on product knowledge.
• Act as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

• Willing and able to perform duties and tasks for extended periods, including standing, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting as required by law.
• Capable of lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise others.
• Ability to work with firearms and obtain firearms certification.
• May be asked to assist customers outside the building or retrieve products from exterior storage.
• Minimum age 18 years.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work in multiple locations as business needs dictate.
• Capacity to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Assistant Store Managers work 40+ hours a week; hours are not guaranteed.
• Computer literate and able to operate POS systems and office machines.
• Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Analytical skills.
• Cash handling experience required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.

Commission Plan Information

The employee commission incentive plan is proprietary. Assistant Store Managers have the potential to earn 2–8% commission based on the gross profit of their personal performance.
