Retail Assistant Store Manager
$13.00 to $17.00 per hour
Commission Structure: Retail sales associates can earn up to 8% on transactions, averaging an additional $7.21 per hour on top of hourly rate.
Position Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Store Manager with a minimum of six months of management or third key experience. Assistant Store Managers are accountable for the day‑to‑day operations of the store and promoting a positive, productive environment. This position will partner with the Store Manager to lead and develop store employees, recruit and retain top talent, maximize financial goals, and manage customer relations and satisfaction. The role sets the tone for a customer‑centric environment.
Alongside the Store Manager, the assistant analyzes store financial statements and ensures financial goals are met. The position also involves committing to the company’s asset protection program, promoting the business, and targeting new customer acquisitions. Employees work various product lines, including jewelry, general merchandise, tools, electronics, firearms (in FFL locations) and more. The position offers an hourly wage, with commission based on productivity and a bonus based on store performance.

Responsibilities of an Assistant Store Manager
- Facilitate a customer‑centric environment by engaging customers in a friendly and professional manner and rapidly addressing customer issues.
- Monitor and assist in the training of pawnbrokers so development meets FirstCash standards.
- Recruit top talent by sourcing candidates through company‑prescribed channels.
- Open and close the store, including counting cash drawers and merchandise, and ensuring all procedures are followed to protect assets.
- Ensure asset protection through inventory control, property safety procedures, documentation, and securing customer loans.
- Administer processes and procedures within the store, encompassing inventory, loan management, merchandising, store presentation, store systems, and enterprise‑level reporting.
- Evaluate the store’s financial statements and drive profitability through communication and goal setting.
- Ensure operating standards meet or exceed FirstCash standards.
- Monitor loan qualification and buying processes to ensure the value and integrity of all loans issued.
- Complete assigned tasks and training for self‑development as requested.
- Communicate clearly with employees to ensure they understand the store’s mission and profit objectives.
- Remain up‑to‑date on product knowledge.
- Act as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Willing and able to perform duties and tasks for extended periods, including standing, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Capable of lifting or carrying up to fifty pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise others.
- Ability to work with firearms and to become firearms certified.
- May be asked to assist a customer outside the building or retrieve products from exterior storage buildings.
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work in multiple locations as business needs dictate.
- Flexibility to work a retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Will work 40+ hours a week; hours based on business needs and not guaranteed.
- Computer literate and able to operate POS systems and common office machines.
- Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Analytical skills.
- Cash handling experience required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.

Commission Plan Information
The commission incentive plan is proprietary to FirstCash. Assistant Store Managers have the potential to earn 2-8% commission based on the gross profit of their personal performance. Detailed information will be provided during the interview process.
