Retail Assistant Store Manager
$18.00 to $21.00 per hour. The role includes a commission structure that pays you for every transaction processed. Retail sales associates can earn up to 8% on transactions, which could average an additional $7.26 per hour on top of your hourly rate. The assistant store manager earns commission based on productivity and a bonus based on store performance.

Position Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Store Manager with a minimum of six months of management or third‑key experience. Assistant Store Managers are accountable for day‑to‑day operations and promoting a positive, productive environment. The role partners with the Store Manager to lead and develop store employees, recruit and retain top talent, maximize financial goals, and manage customer relations and satisfaction. Assistant Store Managers analyze store financial statements, commit to the asset protection program, promote the business, and target new customer acquisitions. The store offers jewelry, general merchandise, tools, electronics, firearms (in FFL locations) and more.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate a customer‑centric environment by engaging customers in a friendly and professional manner and rapidly addressing customer issues.
- Monitor and assist in the training of pawnbrokers to meet FirstCash standards.
- Recruit top talent by sourcing candidates through company‑prescribed channels.
- Open and close the store, count cash drawers and merchandise, and ensure all asset protection procedures are followed.
- Ensure asset protection through inventory control, property safety procedures, documentation, and securing customer loans.
- Administer processes and procedures within the store, including inventory, loan management, merchandising, store presentation, store systems, and enterprise‑level reporting.
- Evaluate the store’s financial statements and drive profitability through communication and goal setting.
- Ensure that operating standards meet or exceed FirstCash standards.
- Monitor loan qualification and buying processes to ensure the value and integrity of all loans issued.
- Complete assigned tasks and training for self‑development as requested.
- Communicate clearly with employees to ensure they understand the store’s mission and profit objectives.
- Remain up‑to‑date on product knowledge.
- Act as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Willing and able to perform duties for extended periods of time, including standing, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Capable of lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise others effectively.
- Ability to work with firearms and obtain firearms certification.
- Able to assist a customer on the exterior of the building or retrieve products from exterior storage areas.
- Minimum age 18 years old.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work in multiple locations as business needs dictate.
- Flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Assistant Store Managers work 40+ hours a week; hours are not guaranteed.
- Computer literate and able to operate point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and common office machines.
- Multi‑tasking ability in a fast‑paced environment.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Analytical skills.
- Cash handling experience required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.
