Job summary

Family Dollar in North Carolina is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily activities, support store associates, and ensure merchandise is well organized on the floor and in the stockroom.

You will participate in opening/closing, handle directives, maintain displays, and safeguard company assets. A high school diploma is preferred and a background in retail management is beneficial.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional displays and store-front fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked store and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets including cash; adhere to safety policies.
• Help supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Keep store clean including bathrooms, floors, and trash; keep areas neat.
• Other duties as assigned.
