Job summary

Family Dollar in North Carolina is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and staff development. The role includes assisting with merchandising, opening/closing duties, and ensuring store standards for cleanliness and safety.

Ideal candidates have high school level education, store-management experience, and strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills to lead and motivate associates in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and provide leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Support payroll, scheduling, and cash handling; assist in loss prevention.
• Maintain organized store areas and protect company assets.
• Assist Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates.
• Ensure a safe, respectful environment and professional interactions with customers and staff.
