Job summary

Potbelly is seeking a General Manager in Burlington, MA to lead daily operations, manage P&L, and cultivate a welcoming, high-energy team environment. You will drive guest satisfaction, maintain food safety standards, and ensure smooth scheduling and cost control.

You will partner with leaders to grow the neighborhood shop, recruit and develop staff, and promote Potbelly values within the local community. This role requires strong leadership and a passion for service.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years as a General Manager in a restaurant or retail environment with P&L responsibility
• Pass and obtain a Food Safety Certification and maintain it
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership to build and develop teams and handle conflict resolution
• Ability to write effective schedules and maintain labor goals
• Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment and manage allergens

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and develop shop team members to realize their potential
• Assess staff abilities and create development plans
• Interview, select and hire great people who represent Potbelly Values
• Develop and maintain Good Vibes culture for attraction and retention
• Schedule Associates, Certified Trainers and Shift Leaders
• Update communication board with critical shop information
• Hold regular meetings with key shop staff
• Delegate tasks to ensure high execution standards
• Ensure all security procedures are followed
• Maintain back-of-house procedural standards
• Count drawers and follow cash handling procedures
• Drive local shop marketing and recruit outside the shop
• Control cost of goods, variances, and inventories
• Create a local marketing plan and lead community engagement
• Manage P&L line items
• Spend 80-90% time on the shop floor
• Maintain deadlines and prioritize shifts
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety
• Handle customer complaints and issues
• Other duties as assigned
