Job summary

Potbelly Sandwich Works is seeking a General Manager to lead a busy shop, drive strong operations, and foster a welcoming, high-energy environment for teammates and guests. The role requires P&L responsibility, staffing, scheduling, cost controls, community engagement, and delivering exceptional customer experiences in a fast-paced setting.

You will spend 80-90% on the shop floor, mentor staff to grow, maintain health and safety standards, and uphold Potbelly values in daily work and guest

Qualifications

• Age 18+ requirement.
• Minimum 2 years as General Manager in a restaurant or retail with P&L responsibility preferred.
• Food safety certification required; must pass and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and develop shop team members.
• Assess staff abilities and create development plans.
• Interview, select and hire great people.
• Lead shop marketing and promotions to maximize sales.
• Schedule Associates, Certified Trainers and Shift Leaders.
• Maintain health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Handle customer complaints/issues and ensure high standard of execution.
• Manage cash handling procedures and draw counts.
• Control costs, variances, and inventories within the shop.
• Spend 80-90% of time on the shop floor in Front of House.
• Oversee labor goals and write effective schedules.
• Drive community involvement and local partnerships.
